Dog Friendly Resorts Vancouver Island – Vancouver Island is located west of Vancouver and is only accessible by ferry (you can bring your car on the ferry to make getting around easier when you arrive) or by air. When I first wanted to travel there I was dealing with boat prices depending on the time (note) and since we were crossing at peak time it was very expensive and traveling by sea wouldn’t be much. the table. The island is somewhat weather-neutral, and although it rains all the time in Vancouver, very little rain interfered with our plans.
When I first started planning my trip to Vancouver Island, I thought about staying in Victoria and the dog friendly places there. During some research, I came across the Prestige Oceanfront Resort Sukey, a pet-friendly hotel. Having stayed at the Prestij Resort several times over the last two and a half years, I knew it was a hotel I could trust and that Mia and I would be comfortable staying there.

Sooke is about a 30 minute drive from Victoria, a bit away from the tourist crowds but has all the amenities you need to enjoy your stay. Talking to several locals, they told me that they used to live in Victoria but decided to move further afield to avoid the crowds. This is how I felt about this small town by the sea.
Tofino Laid Back Luxury Resort
When I first arrived at the Prestige Oceanfront Resort Sooke, I was a little disappointed. Looking at the building, you might mistake it for a mansion rather than a hotel. It has excellent airport architecture that goes really well with its seaside location.
The hotel has all the usual amenities you would expect including a restaurant, pool, day spa, fitness center, large outdoor area with stunning water views. I enjoyed my meals at the restaurant throughout my stay and I can say that the service I received was excellent (the waiter was Australian and it was nice to have someone who understood what I was talking about) and my steak was absolutely delicious.
The resort has amazing views of the ocean from both the balcony and the surrounding gardens where they were hosting a wedding when we visited.
Our room was simple but spacious and clean. It had two queen beds, a desk, a fridge, a TV, lots of space and a good sized bathroom. Since I have Mia, they also provided a good sized pet bed and food and water bowls. I think the hotel has a limited number of pet friendly rooms, so if you are going to be staying there, make sure to book as early as possible and let them know to reserve one of those rooms for you.
Why You Should Visit Vancouver Island
I was told that I was allowed to take anything with me throughout the resort except for food and drinks (according to British Columbia health regulations). The resort has a $40 per night pet fee to contribute to cleaning costs, but there was no additional charge and parking was free.
Unfortunately, all the activities we wanted to do didn’t allow Myan to join us and I had to spend the afternoon taking care of the dog. Victoria and Souk had many options that were easy to find on Google. I wasn’t impressed with our experience, so I won’t mention who we went with, but you should be able to find something for about $25 for half a day.
We spent the morning kayaking from Sukey Harbor to Sukey East, adjacent to Sukey Prestige Oceanfront Resort. I unfortunately lost the photos when we lost our camera on the side of the kayak when a speed boat passed us. A 2-hour kayak rental from the port will cost $45
While visiting Vancouver Island, we walked through downtown Victoria and saw the beautiful British-inspired architecture that makes up the city. There are many cafes, restaurants and souvenir shops if you want to check them out. Following a recommendation, we stopped at the Canoe Brew Pub, which has a really nice outdoor patio and free parking. Unfortunately, the patio is not suitable for dogs due to British Columbia health regulations, but you can keep them close together so you can both see each other.
Pet Friendly Accommodation In Ucluelet
I was told that one of the best places in North America to see whales in their natural habitat is Vancouver Island. I was lucky enough to go whale watching there for the first time with Eagle Wing Tours. Tours depart from Victoria and last approximately 3-4 hours. Eagle Wing Tours has three different ships that they send groups on, one of which is completely open and the other two have areas and bathrooms. They will usually see humpback whales or orcas. Unfortunately, these tours are not suitable for dogs, so if you want to experience them, you will need to arrange dog daycare.
The crew were great, they had extra warm clothes for us to borrow and were very knowledgeable about the area and the various sea creatures. We were lucky enough to see a mother and her calf. We saw a total of five humpback whales, which I had never seen before. It was truly a great experience to see such amazing creatures in their natural habitat. Another great thing about Eagle Wing Tours is that they understand the importance of the environment and conservation to their business and the rest of society. As a result, when you book a trip with them, a portion of the travel cost is donated to various conservation funds. The price of the tours varies from 85 to 135 dollars per person.
While exploring Suke, we checked out Suke Pot Holes, just 10-15 minutes from the Prestige Oceanfront Resort Souk. The area is dog friendly, but dogs must be on a leash and people should be aware of the presence of black bears. It’s a beautiful area and I hear a fantastic swimming spot in the summer. It was a little chilly when we got inside, but Mya decided she didn’t mind the wedding and seemed to be enjoying it. You can view the pot holes from the observation deck above, or there are several hiking trails of varying lengths to reach them for swimming.
We had a great time exploring south Vancouver Island, but if you’re visiting, I’ve heard good things about Tofino, so I’d add a few days to your trip and try to explore there like Sukey. . and Victoria. I’ve also heard good things about the zip lining tours at Suke. Of course, that excitement (and inability to read signs) means dog owners have to do a little more to make sure everyone is following the rules and having a good time. time We hope that all visitors will understand the importance of protecting wildlife and sensitive natural areas. Island Luxury Oceanside Estate Southern Vancouver Island
There are no parks, beaches or grounds in Tofino. Tethered dogs create a culture of protection. The beaches and trails here are important habitats for wildlife, including wolves, shorebirds and some forage fish whose survival is affected by dogs. We aim to protect the shorebirds that live here on their migration routes. Birds will reluctantly return to these beaches if they are frequently disturbed.
Keeping dogs on a leash prevents excited (or potentially aggressive) dogs from roaming the beach and encountering wildlife. Although uncommon, agitated dogs can cause conflict or become easy targets for other animals such as cougars and wolves.
Tofino is comfortable and mild. But there are unexpected risks for dogs, owners and wildlife that make leashes mandatory in the city, on beaches and trails, in parking lots and in the Pacific Rim National Park Preserve, from traffic to sneaker waves. Observe dog owner etiquette when visiting:
It’s always exciting to discover different flora and fauna in a new place, but some of these plants and animals can harm your pet. It is good practice to ensure your dog does not bite directly from the beach to avoid ingesting lots of sand, salt water, seaweed and possibly washed up animals.
