Best Dog Friendly New England Towns – Dog, cat, lizard or snake… Americans love their pets. But not all states are created equal when it comes to pet ownership. For example, some cities and states ban certain dog breeds. The area is highly protected from predators and people harming animals. And for those of us who like to walk or take dogs to the beach, there are states that refuse to allow them to accompany us.
What are the pet-friendly states in the US? Well, safely.com reviewed data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the Animal Welfare Fund and various online sources. They compiled the data and found that Maine is the pet-friendly state in the country.

Even if you are involved in Maine without a registered dog breed. This means that there may be “backyard mammals” that are not very stable. But overall… Maine does a great job and ranks as the pet-friendly state in the country.
Honorable Mention in Massachusetts. They are number seven on the list. The website found that Massachusetts has more than 1,600 veterinarians, 208 dog walking trails, beaches and parks. And the government has severe penalties for people who abuse or harm animals. A note to pit bull lovers…they are the only breed banned in Massachusetts.
And in case you’re wondering… New Hampshire comes in at number 20. So of course we have some work to do to make things better for our pets in the Granite State. For a list of wildlife in New Hampshire click HERE.
