Dogs can play freely on the beach, however they must be supervised and monitored by dog handlers. Dogs are allowed at Duck Beach year-round.
Dog Friendly Vacations North Carolina
Dogs are allowed on the beach from May 15 to September 15 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 am. Dogs must be leashed at all times when leaving the home.

Dogs are allowed on the beach. 10:00 a.m. Friday before Memorial Day through the day after Labor Day. and 6:00 p.m. Dogs must be on a leash no longer than 6 feet. At other times of the year, dogs must be kept on a leash of up to 12 meters unless they are a nuisance to other people on the beach. Unleashed dogs must be managed by a handler who must be 30 meters away from the dog. The bond must be with the owner/holder.
Between May 15 and September 15, dogs are not allowed on the beach between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m., unless they are service animals. Dogs are allowed on the beach, under the control of an employee and on a leash.
Dogs are allowed on the beach year-round as long as they are on a leash of no more than 10 meters and are kept by a person authorized to control animals.
Dogs are welcome at Cape Hatteras National Seashore. Your pet must be on a 6′ leash at all times and pets are restricted within the gate.

Plan a fun day at the dog mine in Franklin, where you can hunt for rocks and pan for gold with your child. The mine offers expert cutting and processing services for the stones you will find when you visit the mine. Enjoy kicking and shaking with your best friend after a day of mining at the pet-friendly Motor Company Grill, located 10 miles from Gold Mine Township.

If you’re a wine lover, you can enjoy a variety of wine tastings with your furry friend at a pet-friendly vineyard in Hendersonville. Your child is allowed to join you in the dining room and throughout the vineyard. Burntshirt Vineyards offers great box lunches, or you can bring a picnic to enjoy on the patio or in your designated area. There are other pet-friendly restaurants in the area, such as Mike’s on Main and the Flat Rock Wood Room, where you can enjoy a meal with your pooch after a day in the vineyard.
Bring your pup to stroll the streets of Charlotte on a 75-minute guided, candlelit tour where you’ll be treated to local history and magic as you explore the many areas of Upstate Charlotte. If you’re feeling down at the end of your visit to Carolina History and Haunts, stop by Charlotte’s Dog Bar for a drink with your best friend and let them go! Other pet-friendly restaurants in the area include Flying Saucer and Mellow Mushroom.
Spend the day on an undisturbed, wildlife-lined beach on an island about 5 miles southeast of Wilmington, home to a coastal research center and zoo and wildlife sanctuary. If you want to extend your trip, camping is allowed on the Masonboro Island reservation. You and your pup can get to the island with the help of Entropy Boat Rentals from Wilmington. After a day of playing and sailing with your child you can enjoy one of Wilmington’s many restaurants, such as the Dock Street Oyster Bar.
Stop at this beautiful spot in Ivy (near Weaverville and Asheville) to enjoy spectacular views of the Blue Ridge Parkway with your child. See beautiful flora and fauna as you take a 1.5 km round trip on the famous Craggy Pinnacle Trail, which takes you through a path of rhododendrons to a 360-degree view of the peak. We recommend visiting Craggy Gardens in mid to late June for a spectacular display of pink and purple rhododendron flowers. If you get hungry while hiking, there is a dog-friendly restaurant called Blue Mountain Pizza & Brew Pub in Weaverville, about 20 minutes away.

Spend a day with your furry friend at Zirconia Orchard (near Flat Rock), which has a wide variety of apples, grapes, pears and pumpkins and plenty of pre-picked fruit. Make some. SkyTop’s famous apples and pumpkins are made daily and served at room temperature. You and your child can enjoy it in the picnic area where you can see the playground, ponds and bamboo forests and see the wild animals. Skytop Orchard is less than 10 minutes away from Hubba Hubba Smokehouse in Flat Rock, where you can enjoy its famous barbecue with your pets.
