During the day, Cacapon is open year-round, but the water is frozen and facilities are limited in summer. Head to Seneca State Forest in Pocahontas County to explore with your pup, nearly 12,000 acres of wild forest, beautiful shoreline areas around Seneca Lake, and more water sports opportunities along the Greenbrier River. Be sure to keep your dog on the trail, pets are not allowed in designated swimming areas at Seneca Lake. Fortunately, there are plenty of places along the trails where your dog can jump into the water to catch a game or cool off. Pets and owners can swim together in the Greenbrier River as long as you make sure your dog is not disturbed by another bath or tub. For a longer stay, check out a vacation rental in nearby Dunmore, Green Bank, or Huntersville. Although Seneca State Forest is open year-round, the off-season from May to October is too cold for water sports.
