A Dog Parent Guide To Visiting Zion National Park
I didn’t know Juneau on that first visit, but we soon visited Zion together several times. At least once a year from 2016 to 2020. Here are some of the best things to do for dogs in and around Zion National Park.
Like most national parks, Zion does not allow dogs on the trails. But they are allowed in campgrounds, on roads, and in paved scenery.
The only exception to the “no dogs on trails” rule is the Pa’rus Trail, a partially paved trail near the visitor center.
As I first noted on Instagram, the Pa’rus Trail is one of the least scenic hiking trails in Zion, following the Virgin River traffic stops and campground restrooms. But really, that’s like saying “the worst beach in Hawaii” or “Sunday is the worst day of the weekend.” even the “worst” is still pretty impressive.

If you live near Zion National Park and need quality dog food or dog food, I highly recommend Doggy Dude Ranch. As their website says, “it’s 30,000 feet of fun for your best friend.”
I have already left Juno in their care twice, once for babysitting and once for a sleepover, and each time I had a great experience. As of October 2020, daytime dog care is $30/day and overnight dog care is only $40/night.
Be sure to make reservations as early as possible, especially in the summer, as Doggy Dude Ranch is often booked.
Although the Pa’rus Trail is the only dog trail in Zion National Park itself, there are plenty of canine adventures nearby.

You can walk your dog along the paths in the park. However, they are not allowed to enter the buses. So if you want to visit the park with your pet while staying at Zion National Park Resorts when the buses are running, you will need to park at the park entrance or in Springdale and walk to the park.
Each national park has its own rules about where pets are and are not allowed. However, most parks have similar rules that pets and their owners must follow. Most of them are common sense rules that you already know as a responsible dog owner.

For example, you are always responsible for picking up your pet’s droppings and taking them to the bin, even if you are out in the wild. Pets must also be kept on a lead. in most cases a leash of 6 feet or less. You should never allow your pet to disturb wild animals.
Service animals are an exception to these rules. Trained service animals are allowed on all routes, as well as in buildings and buses. Animals intended for emotional support or comfort are not considered service animals. Therefore, they must follow the same rules as pets.
Checking the rules for each national park you plan to visit can help you better plan your trip and avoid disappointment. Remember that breaking the rules can result in a fine and a quick end to your fun ride.
