Explore trails like the Precipice Trail, Champlain Mountain & Beehive Loop Trail, and Gorham Mountain Trail. Campgrounds like Blackwoods and Seawall welcome pets for overnight visits. Just outside the national park boundary is Little Long Pond, a 1,000-acre park where dogs can run free.
There is a restaurant inside the park and good news: pets are welcome! Visitors to Acadia National Park have been queuing for spectacular views and entertainment at the Jordan River House since 1893. When you’re ready to eat, Wicked Grass Brewing, White Duck Taco Shop, and Sunny Point Café are known for their fun, animal-friendly treats. Asheville dining options are also available, with wineries like Addison Farms welcoming wine lovers and their dogs.
Burlington is the best weekend getaway for pets, especially if you like to work. Start by hiking or walking the Burlington Bike Trail, a beautiful trail that extends along Lake Champlain. Head to Church Street Market, a pedestrian-only street lined with shops, restaurants and street performers. You and your dog can enjoy his pleasant nature as long as he stays on a leash.
