This legendary beach on California’s Central Coast is known as one of the most dog-friendly beaches in the United States. Dogs can run off-leash and play with other dogs on the beach or in the surf, but this must be done on voice command. Located on the south shore of Nantucket, Surfside Beach is very family- and pet-friendly, with changing rooms, summer lifeguards, and a restaurant. For transportation to the island, Cape Air Ferry and Highline Cruises offer pet ferries to take your dog to Nantucket.
