We enjoyed our stay at Seymour Barn and Classic Cottages, which is a converted old stone cottage. next to the owner’s hut Surrounded by green fields and situated on the edge of Bridport, our house is the perfect base from which to explore Dorset with our special guest Bertie the dachshund.
This farmhouse works well with natural stone and wood floors. as well as a perfect mix of modern and antique furniture from local sources.

We were delighted to find a lovely welcome bag waiting for us. Including local biscuits, homemade jams and cakes using apples from the orchard. Upstairs there are two beautiful bedrooms. One room has a king size bed and the other has a twin bed. Casual clothes antique furniture and artwork from local architects has been carefully curated.
Both rooms were lit by velux windows and we enjoyed views of the fields and gardens surrounding the barn.

The best is Seymour. The barn is dog friendly. Much to the delight of our special guest over the weekend, Bertie the Dachshund came home early with a nice blanket and doggy bag. That’s left for him.
There was a welcome bag waiting for him. Along with towels, food bowls, extra bags and dog food, Bertie quickly noticed.
Dog-friendly walks are available from the front door. And there’s an outside hose that we can use to clean muddy feet after a walk on the beach. The Seymour Barn falls into that category. It is “dog friendly” which means the garden may not be fully fenced. So we have to keep an eye on mischievous Bertie and the balcony.

Bridport is home to Moore’s Dorset knot biscuits and Palmer’s batch ale and is also home to an annual festival. Antiques and collectibles lovers will find many shops to explore at St. Michael’s Trading Estate.
Just down the road from Bridport, the seaside town of West Bay is its capital. West Bay has beautiful sandy beaches. With beautiful old houses and historic buildings in the background. Between the pier and the river there are kiosks where you can buy ice cream or fish and chips. Although you have to watch out for diving seagulls!

A short drive or walk across the park is the lovely village of Symondsbury. Symondsbury Estate has a range of independent shops in Manor Yard, including pubs, farm shops and shops. Contemporary art gallery garden shop and a weekend bike shop There is also a lovely pub and garden outside or stop by the Ilchester Arms pub in the village.
Not far from our house we found the road leading to Allington Hill. low hill It is a forest with many paths. It provides shade in summer and views of the surrounding countryside. This makes it a great place to stroll from the Seymour Barn doors.
Continuing from Allington Hill, you can walk along the farm road to Symondsbury Village or drive and park in the village.

From Symondsbury Estate car park, the steep path takes 45 minutes to the top of Colmers Hill. The hillsides and pine trees standing above are a beautiful sight and offer beautiful views for miles. welcome dogs
Another interesting walk in the Symondsbury area is through the hollows or “Hollowways” where farms and cattle carts have traveled for centuries. Some routes, such as Shute Lane, have “Markers” cut into the rocks. And you can get directions at the Visitor Center.
You can easily access the South West Coast Path if you park your car in West Bay. Heading east You’ll climb over the dramatic cliffs of West Bay. and reached Burton Bradstock and Hive Beach within an hour.
Hive Beach is a beautiful sandy beach run by the National Trust and the Hive Cafe, which specializes in seafood. Dogs are not allowed in the area in front of the cafe. But dogs run across the beach all year long.

From here, it’s a strenuous hike to Golden Cap. It is the highest point of the coastal road. where you will be rewarded with breathtaking views from the 191 meter high peak.
