Guy and Jane bought Lakefield House and Cottage in 2007. Guy’s great-grandfather was from Cumbria and his parents (from Tyneside) took him on several family holidays to the lake. In the early 1980s, Guy introduced Jane (from the Midlands) to the magic of Lakeland. Before they bought Lakefield, they had already rented several holiday hotels around the UK where they had learned many lessons (!). They want a spacious vacation home with good views, adequate bathrooms (“20 minutes waiting room to go to the bathroom before I take a break in the morning” must avoid all costs ..) with a spacious bed. Comfortable and spacious parking lot, they hope to create a place for family and friends to gather in a house that feels like a retreat of books and a fire pit game. Within walking distance and a short walk from the front door should be a special pub (which provides good food). Leaving Junction 36 on the M6 to the west, take the A590 toward Barrow and Newby Bridge. Follow the A590 until you reach the roundabout with the Bowness sign, turn right onto the A592 and you will be on the left about 3 miles, turn left and cross the barrier, then follow the path down the farm until you reach the reception Guests.
If you are coming to us by train, the nearest station is Windermere, which is about 6 miles away. The scenery is really magical and a must visit for those who want to hike, hike, bike, swim, canoe or just enjoy the scenery. Quiet market town with many cafes and independent shops to cater to diners and shoppers.
