The Best Pet Friendly Hotels To Book In Quebec City Canada
We stayed at the dog-friendly Fairmont Le Château Frontenac. This hotel is located high up overlooking the St. Lawrence and is like a castle in the sky. Five-star luxury hotel, the most photographed hotel in the world! The hotel accepts up to two pets of any size for an extra charge of USD 50 CDA per night.
The interior of the hotel was completely decorated for the holidays, and the rooms were decorated with beautiful Christmas trees. It didn’t take us long to check in and we were surprised that Gatsby was just patiently waiting for us online, even after a long drive. The hotel staff made sure Gatsby was well taken care of. He doesn’t eat kibble, so we asked the hotel to prepare grilled salmon and meat for him. The staff even asked Gatsby if the salmon was cooked to the right temperature!
The best thing about Fairmont Le Château Frontenac is that they offer a dog sitting service! We booked a caretaker to come when Danny and I went to dinner and when we went dog sledding. There is a charge of $26/hour (CAD) but a 3 hour minimum if an escort comes to our Gatsby room. You can tell the caretaker to stay in the room or ask the caretaker to take your dog for a walk and play in the snow park in front of the hotel.
Gatsby and I walked along Dufferin Terrace, the terrace that runs around the Fairmont Le Château Frontenac. From this elevation, you can enjoy a panoramic view of Quebec and the St. Lawrence River. There is a huge slide where people can zoom down the top of the slide (270 feet) on a sled that speeds down at speeds of up to 60 mph! Gatsby is around and loves people zooming in on the slide!

The German Christmas market is open from November 22 to December 23, and you can catch the last day of the holiday market as well. We went to the market and saw beautiful crafts in Quebec and food like Nuremberg gingerbread, German Christmas cookies and other German foods like bratwurst, pretzels, wine and more.
The next place we visited was the QuartierPetit Champlain district. This place is so relaxing and Instagram worthy. The narrow cobbled streets here are filled with holiday lights and decorations. I love visiting shops and some of them even let Gatsby into me.
Place Royaleis is just a few steps from the Petit Champlain district, where we visited Notre-Dame-des-Victoires, the oldest Roman Catholic church in North America.
Go to the Place des Canotiers, a beautiful place by the St. Lawrence River. Here Gatsby played in the snow and we walked by the river while admiring the large ice cream cone.

Unfortunately, we could not eat in one of the restaurants in this area because there is no outside door. Here, in the warm season, restaurants are set up outside, and many people eat with their dogs. In winter, Pub des Borgiain is the only place with outdoor seating. Although it was freezing, we sat outside because Gatsby was not allowed in the pub. I had a glass of wine and Danny enjoyed a hot bowl of French onion soup.
At the hotel, Danny booked a romantic dinner at Bistro Le Sam & Bar Atrium. Lawrence River. As an appetizer, we decided on wings with maple syrup and Atlantic salmon tartare. For the main course, I had Cornouailles chicken fried in buttermilk, and for Danny, the braised leg of lamb. Of course we had enough wine and ended up with both parts of a chocolate lava cake.
We arranged for the zoo keeper to visit Gatsby while Danny and I went dog sledding at Expedition Mi Loup! From the hotel we have to drive to Saint-Jean-de-l’Ile-d’Orléans, which is approx. 20 minutes. If you do not drive here, the hotel will arrange transportation. I have wanted to try dog sledding for a long time! When we arrived you could feel the energy of these dogs as they were so happy and excited!
The meeting started with a short safety and car tour, and then we went into the forest! I sat on the sled while Danny stood behind me in front of the sled. Adventure drove me
