Best Dog Friendly Getaways – Something about January makes me want to sit down and look at my calendar and plan a series of trips for the coming year. It’s cold and dark outside, huddled with my laptop, planning an adventure.
Although we’ve put major international travel on hold during the pandemic, we’re excited to reacquaint ourselves with the Seattle area and all of its wonderful (and dog-friendly!) weekend getaways. After a decade away from New York and Chicago, it’s great to be back to rediscover an old favorite vacation spot and check out the innovative attractions, boutique hotels, and unique Airbnbs that are popping up here. Most importantly, I love seeing how many options are available for you to choose from for your dog. I prefer that we can take Dave and Lizzie with us on vacation.

I can’t wait to plan a visit to this beautiful hotel and event venue located near picturesque Friday Harbor which has several “dog friendly” cabins. How incredible is this photo? Grab your best friends and experience the magic of wine country at one of our favorite resorts in the area. We have been spending weekends at Sagecliff since 2015 and it never disappoints. Hiking, wine tasting, and views of the Columbia River Gorge make this vacation a dream come true. On that puppy.
The Captain Whidbey is at the top of my 2022 holiday “bucket list”, this beautifully restored historic inn has been featured in publications like Vogue and is all over my Instagram feed and I can’t wait to go travel. . Walla Walla is one of the best wine regions in the country, with over 120 wineries, so I couldn’t think of a better place to spend a few days. I’ve had this modern city center hotel bookmarked for a while as it looks like the perfect base for a snow weekend or a wine weekend. Or both! Pet And Dog Friendly Vacations In New Hampshire
We’ve blogged before about how much we love our Getaway tiny homes, and we’ve been eyeing new locations in the Skagit Valley. It’s the perfect way to escape into nature while staying warm and dry. And just how incredible is this special night window? There is a fee to bring your dog – details here.
Honestly, the waterside bonfire at Coho Oceanfront stole my heart. Although the Oregon Coast Cabin is a bit of a drive from Seattle, the beautiful modern interior and sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean are worth the trip. Dogs under 25kg are allowed in some rooms – more details here.
The new solution is to book accommodation at Dream Lodge in St Edward’s as soon as possible – which should be easy as the city is only half an hour’s drive away. This historic landmark seminary has been restored into a luxurious and elegant retreat nestled on 326 acres of trails on the shores of Lake Washington. We had a perfect weekend at The Lodges on Vashon in January 2020 and blogged about it, and the memories stayed with us through the earliest months of the closure. This 570-square-foot designer unit comes with amenities like a private patio, fireplace, and soaking tub. Additionally, it’s the perfect base for exploring Vashon Island’s beautiful beaches and hiking. Best Pet Friendly Getaways Near Mumbai & Pune
I’ve long dreamed of becoming one of those Insta-famous A-shaped bodies and I’m determined to make it happen this year. Tye River Cabin Co. offers three different stunning A-frame cabins in the heart of Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest, all three cabins are pet-friendly. We had a lovely Easter weekend in Semiahmoo in 2019 and I was looking for a chance to return to the beautiful scenery and secluded beaches that Lizzie loved. Just a stone’s throw from the Canadian border, this tranquil getaway is the perfect base camp for scenic hikes and stunning views of Washington’s northern coast. They are very dog friendly and welcome puppies, with their own bowls, beds and (at least during our visit) souvenir trinkets. Dog details here.
Step back in time on one of these vintage trailers in Dayton, Oregon. The best part? They are located in the Willamette Wine Region. The trailer comes equipped with pour-over coffee, plush linens, and beautiful bathrobes. Puppies are allowed on the Shasta Trailer, more details here.
Anacortes is one of my favorite out-of-town getaways. An hour and a half drive north of Seattle, you’ll find this charming downtown beach town with great shops, delicious cafes, and oceanfront views. (Watermark Bookstore is one of my favorite bookstores in Washington!) We love the Majestic, a very important hotel downtown, for its cozy rooms and impressive rooftop bar. The 7 Best Dog Friendly Weekend Getaways In Northern California
I love a unique way to vacation, and Winthrop’s Rolling Cabin definitely fits the bill. These tiny houses were designed by Seattle-based Olson Kundig Architects as a modern alternative to camping. Go for a hike or just relax and enjoy the stunning mountain views. Pet policies are listed on the Fees & Policies page of Hotels.com.
This luxury resort on Hood Canal has been welcoming puppies since 1913, and we can count on its dog-friendly amenities. Rent a kayak, go hiking or just enjoy the scenery and make memories. Read a description of the dog here.
Well, it’s technically not possible yet, but we’ve signed up for notifications so we can reserve a reservation when this beautiful camper trailer shows up for the second time in Olympic National Park. They offer creature comforts beyond standard camping while providing a hidden and sustainable way to get into nature. I’m obsessed with this historic Orcas Island Inn’s beautiful new waterside suite, which features a private balcony overlooking the bay. I’ve seen myself hunched over a book. If you follow us on Instagram you know we make a quick trip to Seabrook every chance we get. This beautiful beach town on Washington’s stunning Pacific Coast is literally everything I’m looking for in a vacation – a great downtown with cute shops and restaurants, tons of rental properties, and pristine beaches. Many rental companies welcome puppies.

If you haven’t heard of Tentrr, you’re missing out. We’ve stayed with them twice (on trips to Vermont and Maine, which we blog about here) and each trip has been wonderful. Basically, they set up luxury hunting camps on incredible private properties, like this beautiful orchard near Meade, Washington. You can also choose to pay a little extra and have a fruit delivery delivered to the site, or purchase farm-fresh eggs and enjoy a delicious al fresco stir-fry. Learn more about Tentrr puppies here.
Granted, Idaho is a bit far from Seattle, but we’d travel a long way to get to this spacious hideaway. Plus, little touches like the on-site sauna and antique coffee grinder really warmed my heart. Pets are allowed, but depending on the steps to the door, you have to consider whether this will be a great stay.
