A great place to stay in rural Victoria is Clement House in Benalla. A 2 1/2 hour drive north of Melbourne on the Hume Highway, it’s perfect for a luxury weekend getaway.
Clement House is a luxury Victorian family home with a choice of location, all beautifully decorated. The Deluxe Queen Suite has its own fireplace at the front of the house and access to the secure fenced front garden, while the Deluxe Queen Studio has a kitchenette.
Both apartments have a private entrance. A continental breakfast is served daily, and late check-out is possible if no new guests arrive. There is no extra charge for pets.

Whenever the subject of dog friendly accommodation in Victoria comes up, I always hear many recommendations for Best Friend Holiday Retreat. Located in the Tarra Valley, about 2 1/2 hours southeast of Melbourne, this rainforest park is specially designed for those traveling with their dogs.
Some of the features include separate gated caravan and camping sites, six secure fenced dog exercise pens, heated yard and dog-friendly playground, and a large ball court. Dog-friendly cabins with fenced yards are also available. All dogs sleep at night!
If you must travel without your dog, you can use the luxury dog kennels during the day. There are also lots of fun things to enjoy on site, including a waterfall and adjacent rock pool, perfect for dog swimming or a game of Dog Monopoly.
Wye River Pet Friendly Accommodation
Hollow Log Estate, a five-minute drive from Daylesford, is a dog-friendly place. A 1/2 acre safe dog training area as well as hiking trails leading to the nearby dog-friendly Wombat State Forest.
Choose from a stone or a house. Stoney is a studio apartment ideal for a couple, as well as a dog or up to two small dogs. The cottage is spacious and has room for four people. On my visit to the Yarra Valley, instead of returning to Melbourne at the end of the day, we extended our stay at Wiggley Bottom Farm, a luxury dog-friendly farm near Healesville.
At Wiggley Bottom Farm, choose an apartment in the main farm building or a cottage suitable for two adults and two children. We were so glad we chose the cottage, it was very quiet and had beautiful views of the surrounding area.

The Best Dog Friendly Holidays In The Uk In 2024
Visit the western end of the trail for dog-friendly spots on the Great Ocean Road. Once you get to Warrnambool, Port Ferry and Portland, there are plenty of dog-friendly cabins, including many affordable options. While on the Great Ocean Road we stayed in a cabin at the Gum Tree Caravan Park in Port Ferry.
We were very impressed with our stay in the studio cabin, it was beautiful and modern with a large bathroom and kitchen with everything we needed. Of course our dog wanted to stay with us for $10 a night (as of 2019) and the park owner was very accommodating.
The nearby town of Port Fairy is a beautiful place. I recommend getting a list of the many historic buildings and taking a guided tour yourself or walking your dog along the waterfront.
For a remote beach holiday, visit Golden Beach Cabins at Golden Beach in Central Gippsland, about 3 hours east of Melbourne. These dog friendly cabins are within 90 miles of beautiful beach!
