John Bryan is located near one of my favorite small towns in the country (Yellow Spring). The park has hiking trails, campsites, mountain biking areas and even a rock climbing wall. The Little Miami River runs through it and the park has great walking opportunities for your dog.
My favorite dog hikes are the Rim Trail and the Valley Trail. Plus a bite of the “Pittsburgh Cincinnati State Coach Trail”! Note that the nearby Clifton Gorge Nature Reserve is not dog friendly, so be careful when approaching this area.

The Buckeye Trail is a National Scenic Byway that runs for miles through the park. The Uma Gatewood Trail is named after the iconic Appalachian Trail hiker, Uma Gatewood. And the old man’s cave is world famous.
Conkles Hollow is the only non-dog friendly trail in the park that I know of. However, it is worth considering whether your dog is ready for a nap!
The park is named after the Ohio seal symbol. The sign of the seal is three ridges, which seems not difficult to draw. As someone who has walked and run up and down, he is much thinner than he looks.

Sugarloaf Mountain Loop and Shawnee Ridge are my favorite trails. They are steep while taking short dog-friendly walks! If you like to run, The Buck Fifty is a night relay race in this part of the state that I love!

The Lakeview and Sundown trails are my favorites and the parking lot has everything. There is also a lake which is the main center of the park. The fall foliage here is especially beautiful, and the park is easily accessible from and around West Virginia.

For those living near Cincinnati and Dayton, Ohio, this park is a winner. Dog-friendly trails, waterfall chases, swimming, kayaking, tent camping and cabins are also available.
