Hoffmaster Park – Located in Muskegon, Hoffmaster Park has a designated dog park (North Shore) where pups can splash around in Lake Michigan. The park also has many trails that run through forests and wooded areas, making it a great day trip.

Grand Haven City Beach – Located south of Grand Haven Park, dogs are allowed on the beach between Memorial Day and Labor Day before 5:00 p.m. m. and after 5:00 p.m. m. Enjoy the scenery and fun atmosphere while your dog explores the beach.

Norman F. Kruse Park – This Muskegon park has a great beach. Your dog can roam freely in the designated off-leash area, making it a popular spot for dog owners.
Saugatuck Dunes Park – A short hike through beautiful forested dunes leads to a quiet, uncrowded beach. Dogs are necessary, but the walks and gardens are well worth it. While many restaurants in Saugatuck have dog-friendly outdoor areas.
Bear Lake Beach – This small beach in North Muskegon (701 Fleming St) is a great place for dogs and their owners. It’s usually not too crowded for you and your dog to handle. Leave your dog at Bear Lake Beach.
Shaggy Pines Dog Park – This privately owned dog park in Ada is every dog’s dream come true. With 20 acres of landscaped grounds, speed facilities, a pool and a wash station, it is well worth the membership fee.

Kirk Park – Located west of Olive, Kirk Park has a designated beach and boardwalk. This is a great place to let your dog run loose while you enjoy the scenic beauty of the lake.
Cascade Dog Park – This park is popular with local dog owners for its large dog-free area where dogs can run freely and socialize. The park has different areas for small and large dogs, providing a safe and fun experience for dogs of all sizes. With manicured grounds and shaded seating, Cascade Park offers a great environment for dogs and their owners to relax and have fun.
This list is just a small sample of our favorite outdoor parks. Also worth noting are the Wyoming Dog Park (low fee and vaccination check), Lowell Dog Park, Whistlestop Dog Park in Byron Center, and Covell Dog Park in Northwest Grand Rapids.
West Michigan offers parks and great ways to spend time with loved ones. Millennium Park in Grand Rapids (boardwalks and beaches are open to dogs, but not the beach or splash pad) is popular and features large green spaces and designated dog areas where pets can freely socialize and roam freely. . With miles of riverside trails, Riverside Park is a local gem that offers a perfect escape from the city. These places showcase the natural beauty of the area and are perfect for spending quality time outdoors with your furry friend. There are many other parks and trails in West Michigan that offer many opportunities to exercise and bond with your dog.

Heather, co-owner of Harmony, confirms that they often host dog parties and that there is always a happy hour on Thursdays on the patio. You’ll get great hourly rates if you bring your dog and they often have dog-themed activities and treats! Follow their Facebook page for puppy activities this summer!
Archival Brewing – Located in Belmont, Archival Brewing offers a large dog-friendly outdoor area. Enjoy historic breweries and a curated menu in a quiet, dog-friendly neighborhood.
Other dog-friendly facilities include Cascade Animal Hospital in Cascade, Forest Hills and Ada, Nonna, MudPenny and Vitale in Ada.

Lake Michigan Beach Pet Friendly Vacation Rentals
Relax at Rosa Concert – bring your dog downtown for lunch and a concert! Every Thursday from noon to 1:30 p.m. m. Through September 12, Rosa Park Circle presents an outdoor concert with food trucks. Dogs are welcome if they are well behaved and unruly.
Most outdoor recreation areas in West Michigan allow dogs. If you are interested in an outdoor concert near you, we recommend checking the organizers’ information or website.
West Michigan Whitecaps: The West Michigan Whitecaps will host their popular Dog Days at LMCU Ballpark on June 19 and September 3, 2024. This special event allows fans to bring their furry friends to play with them. The atmosphere is always fun, with dogs of all shapes and sizes having fun and socializing with other canine enthusiasts. It’s a great place to watch a fun baseball game while spending time with your dog in a fun, community atmosphere.

Contact us today if you need an appointment. Located at the tip of Michigan’s finger, Port Austin is one of the state’s lesser-known gems, and it just so happens to be a dog! At nearby Port Crescent State Park, you can spend the day splashing in the crystal blue waters of more than 3 miles of sandy beaches, or hike more than 18 miles of open forest trails that wind over the cliffs and provide clear water.
Dogs are allowed on the beach near the Pinnebog River, which can be accessed via a metal bridge that connects to hiking trails around campus. Pets should be kept on a leash and it is important to remember to clean up after your pet.
One of our favorite dog lovers, Pak’s Backyard, also in Port Austin! They have a great selection of Michigan craft beers, great bar food, and a great atmosphere. They often play live music so you can eat and drink right on the water with your backpack after a long day at the beach!
Just a few hours from the shore of Lake Huron is our favorite stop, Tawas Point! This dog beach is one of the fully fenced areas in Michigan, where dogs can run freely in a designated area. The campground is also dog-friendly, so you can bring your dog for a weekend of fun.
Dog Safety Tips
Boathouse Beer Co. & Boozery is another great way to share a patio with loved ones. Located in Tawas Town, they have great food and drink and are right across the street from another small park that is also dog friendly.
If you are looking for a unique experience to enjoy with your dog in Michigan, Mackinac Island is it. Hop on one of the dog-friendly ferries (Star Line or Shepler) to cross the island car-free – a unique experience in itself! While you’re there, you’ll be able to hike over 70 miles of trails and sights, dine at one of our dog-friendly restaurants, and even explore the history of Fort Holmes with your dog. Many shops in the city welcome four-legged guests. Watch out for the sign that says “Dogs Allowed”!
There are three dog-friendly hotels on Mackinac Island, including Park Place Suites, Sunset Condos, and our favorite, Mission Point Resort, which also has an amazing dog-friendly patio.

Pets At Pictured Rocks
Home to the famous Pictures Rock Park in Northern Michigan, Manistee is another Northern Michigan gem and yes, you can bring your dogs! There are several areas in the park where dogs are allowed, including Sand Point beaches, Munising Falls Trail, Miners Falls Trail, Miners Beach, Lake Superior Overlook and Beach, Sable Falls Trail, and the beach.
