Dog Friendly Resorts Palm Springs – Palm Springs, California is about 100 miles east of Los Angeles in the Coachella Valley region of the Sonoran Desert. Because it has been a popular resort town for many years, Palm Springs is known for its natural hot springs, hotels, restaurants, golf courses, and sunny climate. And of course, it’s dog friendly.
Downtown Palm Springs is always growing, with new shops, restaurants, hotels and neighborhoods like the North End’s uptown design district growing as the annual Coachella and Stagecoach festivals bring attention to the desert city. And the Palm Springs International Film Festival in January attracts more celebrities and audiences.

“Greater Palm Springs” includes eight cities in addition to Palm Springs: Desert Hot Springs, Cathedral City, Rancho Mirage, Palm Desert, Indian Wells, La Quinta, Indio, and Coachella, tourism is the largest contributor to the local economy. I recommend staying in Palm Springs and exploring other cities. Palm Desert is a drive away with beautiful outdoor shopping malls and is great for Indie/Coachella photos or if you’re attending a festival. (without the dog)

We visited many dog friendly places. And when did I say that Palm Springs is the most dog-friendly city we’ve ever seen? I really mean it! It’s hard to explain. But wherever we go with Ruby, there is a warm feeling, and we hope that happens in this comprehensive guide.
Palm Springs weather is good year-round. But there are times when visiting in winter and early spring is considered best. Palm Springs is unique in winter. It occurs in November-January as other parts of the country experience heat and snow. Palm Springs has plenty of sunshine and temperatures of 65-75 degrees.
I do not recommend traveling to Palm Springs with your dog anytime after March. Unless your only plan is to be with the pool at all times during your visit. Summer temperatures are usually in the 100°F range and can reach 115°F with less than 10% humidity.
Palm Springs and the surrounding desert area resort has an overall feel to it and is one of my favorite things to do while visiting the city. I’m a big fan of mid-century modern architecture and desert luxury, so I’m probably in heaven for all the hotels and house rentals in the area.

And meet and socialize in style. This restaurant is extremely dog-friendly for two reasons: 1) the dog menu is great and has fresh food options that accommodate common protein allergies, and 2) dogs can be accommodated inside. 4 Paws Coffee Co. Another dog-themed store in Palm Springs that you should check out. As soon as we walked in the door we were welcomed with open arms. And the cafe is decorated with dog-centric decorations and merchandise. We enjoy sweets and coffee at the cafe with Roe, but she is robbed by a spoiled puppy. Purchasing items from the cafe supports their efforts to give back to local shelters. It reinforces our goal of bringing coffee, food and connection to the Palm Springs community.
Morten Botanical Garden is a private arboretum created to share the beauty and unusual flora of popular desert trees, shrubs and cacti with visitors from around the world. They are home to the world’s first cactus, which is my favorite part of the garden. And dogs are allowed on leashes throughout the park.
Park parking is on the corner of the street opposite the S Palm Canyon Dr. entrance, the entrance fee is $5/person and dogs are free. We spent quite a bit of time here as I was eager to take photos of the cacti. If you visit during the week you should be lucky as there are not many people or none.
Unique to Southern California are all the windmill sites, and official tours are available in Palm Springs to see them up close. But I am not sure if they allow pets or not. We prefer to explore ourselves.
Downtown Palm Springs Hotel In Coachella Valley
To see the background below take Indian Canyon Drive and take I-10 to Garnet, if you are driving north of Indian Canyon, turn left on Garnet and go about 1/4 mile and you will see a place where that you can park. This area has little or no traffic. So you don’t block the main road. You can park your car wherever you want to take pictures.
I recommend watching the sunset. The desert is exposed at sunrise with a silky sky. But the sun is quickly hiding behind the mountains. So be sure to arrive before sunset. There is a fence around the turbine. But due to the shadowy background of mountains and bushes in this area, it is not noticeable. You have to admit it.
There are restrictions on visiting Joshua Tree National Park with your best friends. But there are plenty of dog-friendly activities that allow you to experience the land. We’ve visited Ruby in the park several times before and have put together the best Joshua Tree tours for a half-day or full-day visit to the park.
This medieval society is a gem for those interested in medieval modern architecture. Almost all the houses in India were built in the middle of the century. It has a large glass window. As a result of the large terrace and wide access to the swimming pool, the city has a rich architectural history and spectacular, unobstructed mountain views.
Dog Friendly Hotels In California
You’ve probably seen some of these homes on Instagram with well-manicured landscaping and brightly colored doors. The best way to enjoy these homes is to park and drive, especially those in South Yosemite and South Camino Real.
A dog-friendly feel is echoed around downtown Palm Springs, a lively downtown area filled with unique shops, restaurants, and arts. We have had many people come up to us and say how well Robbie behaved. And all the shopkeepers immediately flocked to Ruby, wanting to give her animals, water and medicine. If you follow us on social media, you know that Ruby has been around indefinitely. But she had to accept the proposed pet as soon as possible.
There are many things to do in the city. And the main routes are Palm Canyon Drive and Indian Canyon Drive, I recommend looping and South Palm Canyon seems a bit tricky. And the northern area is thanks to its recent renaissance as an uptown design district.

The Best Pet Friendly Hotels In Palm Springs
Our favorite restaurants in the downtown area include BoozeHounds, 1501 Uptown Gastropub, Ice Cream & Shop(pe), and Talk/Quila (get a churro ice cream sandwich).
In town with shopping and dining along the way. You can also see art installations spread across the grounds that are bigger than statues of you and Marilyn Monroe.
As you know, Palm Springs has a thriving art scene. And besides the large and obscure sculptures there are many other murals throughout the city. My favorite wishful thinking.
