Best Dog Friendly Days Out Uk – Spending a day out in Cambridge with your dog has never been easier, with more and more places welcoming well-behaved dogs. With many dogs finding it difficult to be left alone for long periods of time because they are used to their owners working from home, it is more important than ever to find places where dogs can meet. Luckily, Cambridge has woken up to the latest trends in dog-friendly shopping, dining and outings, and we’ve rounded up some of our favorite spots.

When Green Badge tour guide Murray Jacobs was looking for new subjects for his guided walks, he quickly realized that dog walkers were sadly overlooked on tours of college campuses.

He said: “Of course it’s great to visit universities but if you’re spending a day in Cambridge with your dog you might miss out on the fun walks because I’m a dog lover but no pets are allowed. No, I saw a lot of people walking around Cambridge with their dogs, but I didn’t see anyone on the tour so I went for a walk so that the dogs could be happy with their owners and I found something interesting s story.
“I discovered some interesting facts about the dominant dogs in Cambridge. For example, one could say that without discussions about dogs, one of Cambridge’s most famous buildings, Pembroke College, might never have been built. 1 A springer spaniel known only as the dumbest dog by its owner is closely associated with one of Cambridge’s most unusual works of art A famous Italian painter who seems to have painted more dogs than any of his contemporaries has it all A particularly admirable building in the city.

“This walk will be suitable for locals as the stories are not well known and I will show something that even people who have lived here for many years will not see. I can accept groups of up to five well behaved dogs , I think it is a nice, social thing to do with friends.
Dog Friendly Restaurants
60 or 90 minutes. It usually starts in front of the Pit Building on Trumpington Street (opposite Fitzbilly’s), explores the surrounding area and ends on King’s Parade. Start times are flexible.
The cost is £80 for 60 minutes or £100 for 90 minutes. You can also do it with your friends (up to 8 people and 5 dogs).

Summer Fridays at Milton Country Park are back and dogs are welcome. These outdoor dining events began during the pandemic and will return this summer. They offer an opportunity to gather outside, with plenty of space to spread out in beautiful surroundings, a great atmosphere, delicious food trucks and a well-stocked old-fashioned bar.

From May to September, the park hosts food trucks and a retro bar in the foreground one Friday a month. Bring a chair, a blanket, stretch, and hit the park later – parking lots close at 9 p.m.

Another interesting development at Milton Country Park is the establishment of a self-service dog wash in the park.
For just £3 you can get your dog a wash and blow dry, including conditioner or flea treatment. The front of the shower unit opens to let the dog in, you clip them in place and choose to wash. They will look fresh and fluffy, even after the muddiest of walks.
Dog Friendly Activities To Try This Summer
Sarah Harris, project manager at Cambridge Sporting Lakes Trust, which runs Milton Country Park, said: “I think it’s difficult for people to put dogs in foster homes and it’s a waste of time to get your dog accepted. Great way to be friendly in the comfort of your own home… we just want to make it clear that this is not a place for swimmers, children or bikes!

The visitor center at Wicken Fen has a secret stash of dog biscuits (not too many) to hand out to well behaved pooches, a great cafe and a great place for long walks.
Dogs on short leashes are welcome in the visitor center, shop and cafe while you select and order food. There are plenty of picnic benches outside to eat. Visitor centers can also offer indoor seating for your dog to enjoy a coffee meal.
Dog Friendly Beaches
They ask owners to keep dogs on a leash, as there are herbivores and wild animals on the premises.
Shopping hard with a hunter? The good news is that you can definitely book a tour in Cambridge. Waterstones on Sydney Street not only welcomes dogs, but also has a nice cafe where visitors can drink coffee, read a book and eat brownies. Others talk about giving treats through the checkout for well-behaved dogs.
Hevers is also dog friendly, with a huge sports department to explore, as well as two floors below.
Joan’s coffee shop, based in the charity Emmaus, sells second-hand household goods and is a dog-friendly place with cushions, cuddly toys and the occasional free sausage. They also offer a special “Dog’s Christmas Dinner” – made with sausage, bacon, ham, pepperoni, tuna, cheese, eggs, turkey and gravy.

The coffee shop is a social enterprise run by homeless charity Amos Cambridge and raises funds to support the charity’s work in helping ex-homeless people rebuild their lives.
Amos said: “Our whole site at Landbeach is very dog-friendly and we have lots of things for people to do – there’s a big garden to walk around, second-hand furniture to browse, hot and cold drinks, cakes, also a cafe, and a main menu with options for vegetarians, vegans, children and now dogs.
The Free Press is a great place to eat and rates highly for its food on TripAdvisor, with the Scotch Eggs, Ploughman’s Lunch and Roast Dinner all highly recommended. This little bar is dog friendly and has a strange story behind its name. The building housed the printing press for the Free Cambridge Newspaper. It lasted for one issue, but the name stuck. The walls are covered with old newspaper covers.
Other dog-friendly pubs worth mentioning include The Station Tavern, The Clarendon Arms, The Pickerel and Granta. Cambridge Brew House, The Mill, Waterman and Petersfield.
Peak District E Guide
The Green Dragon is a great dog friendly venue and is probably the oldest carriage house and pub in Cambridge. Famous patrons included Oliver Cromwell (1599-1658), who is believed to have enjoyed mess-throwing activities with his friends, which can be seen in the current fire.
Author J.R.R. Tolkien (1892-1973) visited pubs to find inspiration for The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings.
Reader Chris Smith says: “If you have a walk out of town along the river with your dogs, The Green Dragon in Chesterton always reminds you of old friendly Cambridge, with its riverside beer garden.
Take a walk in Midsummer Park, then sit back and enjoy the view of the Fort St. George Pub, located on the banks of the river Cam, next to the city and university boathouse. Dogs are allowed in the bar and beer garden, but not in the restaurant.

The Pint Shop restaurant is housed in an impressive Georgian townhouse where EM Forster once lived. There is a restaurant and drinks room on three floors, with a terraced garden at the rear for al fresco dining. Dogs are welcome here – just make sure they don’t eat any of the famous Scotch eggs.
