Earlier this month, I bought her a cookie for her first holiday. I was a little nervous because it was her first time staying in a hotel, going to a restaurant for the first time, and probably taking a long car ride for the first time.

I needn’t have worried though as she is the best dog and thoroughly enjoyed her little holiday in Norfolk.

We were in Norfolk for three or more days until someone got out of my car and it was a great holiday. We went to many beaches, took advantage of the Eat Out program which gave you many discounted meals, and the weather, heat and sunshine were perfect!

We visited Norfolk Beach at the beginning of August and although we started looking about a month or so later, we had trouble finding anywhere that was dog friendly…or indeed any accommodation that was available! I blame it on COVID and the summer holidays. Although there are some hotels that are dog friendly, we were lucky.

I went with two friends and we were looking for a cabin or a small house to stay in but there was nothing. I wanted to stay in one of these luxury homes at Barefoot Retreats, but they were all booked. All of their homes are dog houses, and while they aren’t the cheapest, they all look unique and beautiful.

Dog Friendly Holiday Properties In The South Hams

We ended up finding a beautiful hotel near one of the best beaches in Norfolk. We stayed for two nights at the Briarfield Coast Hotel in Titchwell.

The hotel has several dog rooms, each with two doors. One leads to a courtyard leading to the car park, while the other leads back to the hotel lobby and restaurant. Great for dogs to get them out of your room.

My friend stayed in a large double room with a separate bedroom and shared bathroom. My room was a bit small but it was fine for me and Cookie.

They left me a bag of blankets, blankets and dog cakes, as well as tea, coffee and some biscuits.

The hotel has a large restaurant, dog bar area and large outdoor areas. Their menu is great, lots of fresh fish for lunch or dinner, and plenty of choice for breakfast.

This was a great place to stay for two nights at Norfolk Beach as we were only a short distance from where we wanted to go!

Our last night on the mainland was spent at the Dabbling Duck and Massingham Hotel. Wading Duck has two dog friendly rooms at the end of the garden. Our room was unique and spacious with a large bathroom.

Massingham is a small village about 40 minutes from the coast. The bar offers great food including a fire pit for freshly baked pizzas and they even have their own gin!

Prince William and his family, who live on the street, seem to frequent the place. We didn’t bomb them!

Much of the restaurant is dog friendly, and there is plenty of seating outside or in the barn.

Norfolk’s beaches are probably the best in the UK. WOW! very beautiful! Some beach areas were also almost deserted. All you have to do is walk a short distance from the parking lot to a completely empty beach area.

Hunstanton Beach was the first beach we visited from King Lynn to Titchwell. There is a large car park near the beach entrance.

Hunstanton Beach is famous for its red and white cliffs. If you walk along the cliffs you will see many small rock pools and the remains of large fishing boats used in both world wars.

The area near the car park is very busy with many families organizing beach camps, but you don’t have to go far to find quieter places.

Cookie first fell in love with her on the beach, running, rolling in the sand, and jumping on the rocks. She doesn’t dare go into the sea yet!

Like Hunstanton, the first area you reach from the car park can be very busy on a sunny day. It amazes me how many people spend time at the beach every day, but if you don’t plan on being out all day make sure you have everything to do no matter the weather, the kids will be happy!

Dog Friendly Bude

We walked along the beach and found a large open space in the middle of the desert where we could enjoy some quiet reading time at noon. Well, I tried to listen, but in fact I spent most of the time looking for cookies on the beach and stopped from digging in the sand near our heads! (Watch the video below!)

Around 5pm we walked on the beach and found a place to ourselves. A lot of soft sand flows in during low tide, and if you want to dive in the sea in the summer, the waves are not high. Once we were away from the crowd, we let Cookie off the rope and let him run around. She had a blast!

My favorite place is Holkham Beach. I’m glad we visited them in this order because they keep getting better.

You can reach Holkham Beach from two locations in Wells, then walk left or park in the nature park, through the woods and past the flats to get to the beach. Both roads are long, but I promise they are worth it!

Dog Friendly Holidays At Hemsby Beach Holiday Park

Again, you don’t need to leave the crowd until you find a place where there are no other souls. The beach seemed to go on for miles. At high tide, the surface of the river is wide and the sand is soft, which allows the construction of sand temples. Or take Cookies for example…there are many sand castles that can be destroyed by running through them!

Holkham Beach is absolutely beautiful. Ricky, Nikki and I spent most of the day discussing how to find a holiday home in Norfolk so we could hit this beach as often as possible! I will definitely come back.

OK, so a beach full of seals doesn’t look like dogs or human friends. However, I was pleased to find that Blakeney Head was boat trip friendly.

We read that a seal watch boat trip is a must do when visiting Norfolk. I happily booked a boat trip for our first morning in Norfolk to see what the night before was like before I completely forgot about the biscuits. New dog dog!

Luckily they love to bring dogs on board so the four of us boarded the plane and enjoyed the one hour trip to see the seals at Blakeney Point and back.

We booked through Bishops Boats and there was plenty of space on the plane and social space on site!

There are plenty of places to eat dog food in Norfolk. Overall, I found the Norfolk very friendly and the biscuits were not a burden at all. There is the odd shop or cafe that does not allow dogs, but most places treat them well.

We hope to try more restaurants, but again, due to COVID (lots of people staying at home!) it’s summer vacation, and the food markets help with that, most places are closed fully booked. We accidentally booked a Monday to Wednesday holiday, so although it was hard to book some places, we got a lot of delicious food!

Dog Friendly Cottages Devon

This is the most delicious place we have ever eaten and probably my favorite. Due to COVID-19, Tonham orange trees can only be grown outside and have a strict road system and external access.

The whole menu looked delicious and although I was tempted by the lobster, we both opted for the slow cooked beef ribs and I also had the chorizo and scallops.

Both were crispy, the beef ribs were really big and came with coleslaw slices and I had Bean BBQ on the side. Yam! Cookies even enjoyed the big bones I picked up at her house. Win everywhere!

Eric’s Fish and Chips is a great way to go after a busy day at the beach. There are fish and chip shops, pizza parlours, ice cream parlors and more.
