Dog Friendly Holidays East Anglia – Many of us love taking our canine companions on holiday to the UK – and Suffolk is one of the perfect destinations if you can’t bear to be apart from your pet and don’t like the idea or the expense. to get into their wands. Here at Windmill Lodges, with two dog-friendly lodges at our base in the heart of East Anglia, we outline some of the key reasons why Suffolk is the UK’s most popular holiday destination for dog owners.
There are plenty of dog friendly pubs in and around the area including the Old Mill House on our doorstep in Suxted. The Railway Inn and The Castle Inn in the nearby market town of Framlingham both allow dogs.

There are many more further afield but also in Suffolk. For example, you could combine a pint at The Ship Inn Dunwich with a walk on the beach with your dog afterwards (or before).
Holiday Parks East Anglia
Saxtead Green is ideal for walking if you don’t want to stray too far from your holiday home. Remember, we are close to the Suffolk Coast and an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, so you have a great selection of paths, walks and trails for you to use and enjoy. Ask at the reception for the relevant OS cards.
There are also many beaches where your dog is welcome too, but remember that not all of them accept dogs during the summer months. For example, Southwold and Aldeburgh are off-limits from early May to late September (although the former port is dog-friendly). Other resorts such as Dunwich and Walberswick have no restrictions.
There are many other tourist attractions around the country that welcome dogs, although the pet must be kept on a lead. These include Framlingham Castle (although the cafe is off-limits) and Leiston Abbey, which is close to Sizewell Nuclear Power Station.
If you want something more animal friendly, try Easton Farm Park near Woodbridge or Jimmy’s Farm outside Ipswich. You can get up close to several farm animals (and some less exotic breeds like camels and raccoons).

We have two dog friendly lodges to accommodate you and your pet. The woodpecker and the coot are two problems, both have secure fenced areas so you can enjoy your meal and your private hot tub in peace.
Both cabins offer four-star accommodation, a wide range of facilities including a kitchen, TV and DVD player, shower facilities and ramp access, and holidaymakers can take advantage of our electric car charging and laundry facilities. Every dog you bring must be at least 10 months old and fully vaccinated. We charge £25 per dog with a £100 guarantee. We can also accommodate other pets.
