Best Dog Friendly Things To Do In London – There are plenty of things to do in London with your dog. So many, in fact, that it would be difficult to fit them all into one article. You can take your dog to London markets, visit galleries or go shopping together. But I’m not sure how good that would be for your dog.
I took a trip to London with my partner to celebrate our 10 year anniversary. Our friend also came with us and the most important thing was to find great things to do that would keep us entertained.
Best Dog Friendly Things To Do In London
Here’s a guide to dog-friendly London that puts your dog’s pleasure first, including activities you can enjoy together, away from the crowds (as much as possible in the capital!) We’re talking parks and gardens, bars and cafes and dogs. -friendly hotels.
Dog Friendly Parks In London
There are over 100 pet friendly hotels in London. Many do not have a pet fee, although you may have a limit on the number of friends who can stay with you. Depending on your budget, you can choose from cheap accommodation to a luxury experience. Here are some of my suggestions for dog-friendly accommodation in London, although there are many more to choose from.
If you are looking for a traditional British homestay experience with a touch of luxury, Rosewood London has it all and was our choice for a long weekend to celebrate our anniversary. Dogs of any size are always free and a bed, food bowls and water are provided if you let them know your friend is coming with you. There was plenty of space in our room and the bed was very comfortable. The staff were happy to see our puppy and took great care of him, making us all feel incredibly welcome. Rosewood is also conveniently located close to convenient transport links.
London has plenty of dog parks for off-leash walks and play. The most popular ones, such as Hyde and Regent’s Park, are very crowded. If you want to go somewhere a little quieter, leave the tourist trail and head to Richmond or Greenwich Park, or Hackney Marshes. If your dog likes water, Hampstead Heath, Clapham Common and Wimbledon Common have ponds to play in. Here are some of the most popular dog parks in London.
If we had more time, we would have gone far. Instead we took a leisurely stroll through Regent’s Park. Dogs must be kept on a lead (although many did not) and are not allowed in some areas such as the rose gardens. There is plenty of space for dogs to explore despite the restrictions. We walked around the small 410 acre park before returning to Euston station.

If you are looking for activities related to your dog as well as walks or window shopping; there are several friendly experiences available in London. From the scenery to the boats, there’s something for you and your partner to enjoy together.
I followed Y Lein, which is an open-air cobbled street between the Olympic Park and the O2. It takes you along the waterway and the Greenwich Meridian. The beginning was confusing and hard to follow. It is better to avoid the unfavorable environment of the Olympic Park and connect with the road all the way down, where the view is better and the walking path is more interesting. We only cover a small portion of the trail, however, it’s a great outdoor activity that you and your partner can enjoy together.
It’s a shame that none of the big galleries in London accept dogs. The only place I can find is the Kennel Club Art Gallery, where you have to make an appointment. Here is a comprehensive list of dog friendly museums to visit in the UK.
Anyone who owns a dog knows that almost all traditional British pubs are dog friendly (although not always in London..) In modern pubs and wine bars it is not easy to accept your friend in them. If you’re looking for a place that knows how to make good cocktails and serve your partner, here are some dog-friendly places and pubs to check out.
Dog Friendly Places In London
This restaurant came highly recommended as it was voted one of the friendliest bars in London. Although I received good service, it was nothing special. Unfortunately the wind died down the night we left making us wish we hadn’t taken half an hour to get there. Perhaps because service standards in Birmingham are so high, London was a bit below expectations here.
London is welcome when it comes to dining with your dog. There are some places that only allow partners to stay with you and others that completely forbid it. Luckily, there are also great dog-friendly restaurants. Here are my recommendations for vegan and dog-friendly places to eat in London.
This is a restaurant I have been visiting for 10 years The food is delicious and the service excellent. So I was very happy when I found out that they also like dogs. Large dogs may not be comfortable as the Soho restaurant is small. We were sitting by the window with enough room for all of us. Mildred’s menu is currently 100% plant-based, which makes it difficult to choose which dish to order. I highly recommend skipping desert as the tiramisu is divine.
Coffee shops are a great place to take your friend. Small independent cafes often allow dogs, making it a great place to slow down and people watch in a busy city like London. We had our morning coffee at the hotel restaurant and didn’t stop for drinks anywhere. The Breakfast Club is a great place to eat and Ozone has great coffee.
Dog Friendly Restaurant And Coffee Shop Chains
Getting around London is easy as dogs are allowed on public transport without paying a ticket, including buses and the Tube. Keep them in the front or inside the vehicle and use the elevator or take them up and down the escalator. I took the dog with me every time I used the underground as it can be crowded and small dogs are not easily seen by people.
Dogs may not be admitted on public transport “if there is good reason to refuse them”, and possible reasons for refusal are overcrowding and/or a very large dog. I suggest you avoid peak travel times if it is too difficult for your travel companion. My answer was to stay in central London, walk as much as possible and avoid rush hour traffic.

Obviously, one of the best things to do with your dog is to explore one of London’s many parks. We don’t want to list them all, but here are some of your favorites to fill your weekend…
(1-8) Royal Parks – A walk to one (or all) of London’s Royal Parks should be on every Londoner’s bucket list. Choose from Hyde Park, St James’s Park, Regent’s Park, Green Park and Kensington Gardens, Greenwich, Richmond and Bushy Park, each with something very different to offer. In each park, there are some areas where dogs must be kept on a leash and others where they are not allowed (see here ) but there is still plenty to explore. There are actually eight different things to do, but who cares.
(9) Hackney Marshes – Hackney Marshes is a favorite of many East Londoners and if you don’t know the area but want to visit then our friends at Fetch & Follow will make Hackney Marshes a lonely walk for you.
