Best Dog Friendly Walks Melbourne – This book continues the Dog Trip/Day Trip guidebook with the release of Dog Trip Melbourne: 52 Dog Friendly Nature Adventures Guidebook. When I wrote the original review for Dog Trip Sydney: 52 Dog Friendly Nature Adventures Guidebook, I quickly discovered that although I have had many dogs in my life, I am first and foremost a cat person, but I know that dog lovers are probably in the majority.
Dog owners traveling with their dogs will quickly discover that national parks across Australia are off-limits to our four-legged friends (except for assistance dogs) and owners may struggle to find places where to walk their dogs. Given the relationship many tourists have with their dogs, I appreciate the need for guides to offer them the opportunity to hang out with their four-legged friends, but it’s not always clear where dogs are welcome.

The detailed sections of each walk are simple and easy to read with cute little icons that make it very easy to discover the main features of each walk. The layout of the book, the language used and the overall presentation is also designed to encourage the average person to get out and visit these walks with their dog and it very much achieved its goal in that regard. The walks range from town to beach, bushland and waterfalls, so there’s something for everyone, both two and four-legged.
The layout and appearance of this book continues the trend of the previous three books, with high quality images of not only the landscape, but also of the dogs in the environment and at play. This guide, like the others in the series, is very well produced and above all encourages you to go out and explore with your four-legged friend, which is what a good dog hiking guide should do.
